Material × Color Matrix
How the same color behaves differently across leather, synthetic, and textile substrates — critical for accurate color matching in production.
| Color | Full Grain Leather | PU Synthetic | Knit Textile | Production Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Black | Deep, warm undertones | Sharp, cool reflection | Flat, absorbs light | Leather appears "softer" black |
| Cream | Warm, natural variation | Uniform, clinical white | Yellowing risk over time | Anti-yellowing agent required |
| Oxblood | Rich depth, patina potential | Flat, no depth | Fades significantly | Leather preferred for this shade |
| Teal | Unusual, premium feel | Vivid, sporty | Colorfastness issues | Test wash fastness on textiles |
Sourcing Color Accuracy Tips
1. Pantone TCX vs TPG
Use Pantone TCX (cotton) for textile uppers and TPG (paper) for leather swatches. Never mix systems — a TCX color can shift 1-2 shades on leather.
2. Lightbox Verification
Always verify under D65 (daylight), TL84 (store lighting), and CWF (office). Color that matches in daylight may shift under retail lighting.
3. Production Tolerance
Acceptable ΔE (color difference): ≤1.0 for premium, ≤2.0 for mid-range. Always request a pre-production color strike-off before bulk order.
